Growing pains, though not very enjoyable, are critical to success in the world of business.  And most often, manifest themselves in one word…”change.”  

That’s exactly where Corporate Headquarters for Express Personnel Services found their franchise award program a few years ago.  After several years of the same award style, Express Personnel was seeking a fresh look.  The current recognition program was being outgrown by the level of achievement being accomplished by franchisees.   Previous levels of all-time highs were being shattered, and entry level achievements were on the rise. 

Robyn went to work to find a crystal award available in up to 8 sizes; to tailor to Express Personnel’s “Circle of Excellence” branded recognition program.  From the smallest of the awards to the daddy of them all, the crystal award needed to scream quality and convey the Founder’s appreciation for a job well done. 

Now the fun would begin.  Stepping up and meeting product challenges head on.  The award that was chosen was only available in four sizes…Express needed eight.   The sample that was chosen by Founder, Bob Funk, had only one option for etching, and it wasn’t the location he wanted.  The manufacturer’s smallest stock option was a 6 ½” award and Express needed to start at 71/2”.   Solid lead crystal is not a light-weight material, so the largest award, at 11,” was a concern to both Express and Robyn.  Then there is packaging…we all know that presentation is everything.  Custom-padded award presentation boxes seemed a natural choice to help eliminate breakage during shipping. 

This branded promotional products award program quickly morphed into a totally custom design. Specs were sent to the manufacturer, who created actual product samples at all eight sizes. The sample corporate awards were presented to the Founder who immediately (and enthusiastically) signed off on the project. 

The result?  “Overwhelmingly and unbelievably positive,” in the words of Mr. Funk.  The first presentation of these franchise awards were during Express Personnel Services annual International Leadership Conference in Salt lake City, Utah, where franchise award recipients embraced the “change”.
